This past weekend South by Southwest musical festival went down! We have a new series here at Cultureshockmag.com where you can actually get the viewpoint of the artist that are on the grind and performed at the famed SXSW.  Instead of hearing from us you will actually get the experiences of those who ripped the stage in Austin, Texas. We will open up the blogging doors for these artists to describe what it was like to be on one of the largest stages for up and coming as well as established artist.

SXSW in my eyes is one of the best platforms for providing buzz-generating exposure for artist and businesses as well as a networking mecca.

Hot Track: Don't Know Your Name

Recent Project: Escaping Reality (EP)

During the week I had the opportunity to not only meet many of the artist/producers/media that I network with online or have met in passing but I got the chance to build with them and witness first hand what they're all about and they the same. Most importantly I also got to connect with my fans and gain new ones. As a new artist, it's understood that you have to pay your dues, so many times an artist will come out to event of a large magnitude such as SXSW and won't even be able to perform but I was blessed to perform 3 times as well as make a store appearance courtesy of Rocksmith.

This was big for me because it gave me a chance to work on a consistent set in front of a completely new crowds and develop the sets after each one.

The people in attendance showed a tremendous amount of love and I feel like people really got what the music was about. SXSW is also one of those situations where, as an artist, you get to fall back and be a fan for a moment. On my downtime I got to catch numerous performances. A few that stuck out were from the likes of J.Cole, Wiz, Grip Plyaz, Laws & Freddie Gibbs.  I was already hip to all of their music but their performances made me respect them even more as artists. I identify with the levels of emotion and energy, these guys put into their craft so it's definitely noted.

From the food to the open venues and drunken people, SXSW is one giant party. You can't help but leave feeling like you've had a great time, made major moves and met good people.

Austin most definitely has a unique culture that you can appreciated. In short, the team and I will most definitely be out there next year.

Scolla
