This past weekend South by Southwest musical festival went down! We have a new series here at Cultureshockmag.com where you can actually get the viewpoint of the artist that are on the grind and performed at the famed SXSW. Instead of hearing from us you will actually get the experiences of those who ripped the stage in Austin, Texas. We will open up the blogging doors for these artists to describe what it was like to be on one of the largest stages for up and coming as well as established artist.
Where to begin...SXSW was quite the adventure filled with music, bi-polar weather, burritos, and running up and down 6th Street! Imagine being in a place filled with people that are all there to embrace music, whether performing or listening. No one really knew where exactly they were; but they followed the sounds of the drums, tweets and Mcs on the mic. Over the course of the week I think I saw maybe over 50 shows, and loved every minute of it!!

2am Club was a dope band I saw almost everyday out there, the homie Jasmine Solano rocked out with Wiz Khalifa and Currency, J Cole, Bun B, Tabi Bonney, Shanell, Terry Poison, and many more. This one band Balkan Beatbox was sooo great, they are from Israel and in the words of Jasmine Solano, "It is like carnaval, mardi gras, & the west indian day parade all in one" they were dope and the crowd was so open minded and down with it.
Performing down there was also a dope experience! I had 3 shows: the Digiwaxx show at the ranch, the Fools Gold Party at Republic Live, and Hip Hop Howl at Red Fez. Although I had a great time at all of them the most memorable for me would have to be the show at Republic Live! Fools Gold packed the house and I do mean packed!!!! Donnis also performed but the highlight for me was when Atrak & Travis Barker did a set together...it was amazing!
